    • Please note that an additional risk assessment consultation fee of £30 is payable at the pharmacy. This is only applicable per visit and is charged separately from the cost of the vaccine.

Hepatitis A is a viral infection primarily spread through contaminated food and water, leading to liver inflammation.

Although Hepatitis A is found worldwide, it is most prevalent in regions of Africa, Asia (including Central, Southeast, and East Asia), and Central and South America, particularly in areas with poor sanitation.

Most travellers contract Hepatitis A from consuming contaminated food or water, or through person-to-person contact due to inadequate hygiene practices.

Travellers visiting high-risk areas may be advised to receive the following vaccination:

      • Havrix Monodose, a single injection to protect against Hepatitis A.

It is recommended to receive the vaccination at least two weeks before travel.

The initial injection provides short-term protection for one trip, with a booster recommended within 6-12 months for long-term coverage.

Additionally, combined vaccination options are available, such as Hepatitis A and typhoid or Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B. If you're unsure about which vaccine suits you best, our experts at The Wellness Pharmacy can provide personalised recommendations.
