The pneumonia vaccine protects against Streptococcus pneumoniae, which causes pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections. Two types: PCV13 (Prevnar 13) for all ages and PPSV23 (Pneumovax 23) for high-risk adults and seniors. It boosts immunity, reducing severe infections in infants, elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
