Influenza Season: October 2024 to March 2025
About Flu Vaccination
Each winter, a new strain of flu emerges, making it vital to get vaccinated annually, even if you were vaccinated last year.
Why Book Your Flu Vaccination Here?
Flu is caused by a virus and can lead to serious illness, resulting in thousands of deaths in the UK each year. Even if you’re not in a high-risk group, flu can be highly unpleasant. If you're not eligible for an NHS vaccine, you can book a private vaccination through this service.
Is This Service Right for Me?
This service is for those aged 18-49 years. It may not be suitable if you:
- Have a severe allergy to eggs.
- Have had an allergic reaction to a previous flu vaccine.
- Have a severe latex allergy (most flu vaccines are latex-free—check with your pharmacist).
- Are currently unwell with a fever (please re-book once recovered).
- Are on warfarin medication, unless your blood tests are in the correct range—consult your pharmacist.
About Flu
Flu symptoms include:
- Fever
- Sweating
- Aches and pains
- Dry cough
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Nausea
Flu symptoms are much more severe than a common cold and can lead to complications like ear infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia.
About Flu Vaccination
A new flu vaccine is developed each year to protect against the four strains most likely to cause outbreaks. It is administered as an injection in the arm.
